Tips

Focused Attacks on the Boss Are Optimal

Focused Attacks on the Boss Are Optimal

During the Ember Fox battle, ignore the mobs and focus your attacks on the boss only. It's not a high difficulty fight, so you should be able to reliably win by starting with the boss.

When the Great Hellfire Crystal deals a total of 12 hits, it will grant an ATK buff to the whole party. If you want to beat the boss even faster, lower the HP of the Great Hellfire Crystal to 8 or lower and then aim for the boss.

Be Careful Not to Defeat the Great Crystals

Attack Target Effect on defeat
Great Hellfire Crystal
  • Ember Fox ATK UP
Great Snowfall Crystal
  • Ember Fox DEF UP
Great Tempest Crystal
  • Ember Fox Evasion UP
Attack Target Advantages
Great Hellfire Crystal
  • Activates at 9 HP or below?
  • Fire CS Power UP on player side
Great Snowfall Crystal
  • Activates at 8 HP or below?
  • ATK Down to all enemies
Great Tempest Crystal
  • Activates at 7 HP or below?
  • Evasion 100% UP to player side

If you defeat the Great Crystals, they will increase the boss's stats, so make sure to keep them alive.

Equip Lots of Water Element Equipment

Equip Lots of Water Element Equipment

The Ember Fox uses Fire element attacks, so equip Water element equipment to raise your elemental bonuses.

Playstyle for Each Job

Swordsman Playstyle

A Magic Twin Blades-focused equipment set is recommended. The Swordsman should leverage their high ATK and focus on attacking the boss. Equip as many Water element equipment as possible and raise your attack power. Be wary of the “Heh… heh” - “Ssss...sss” combo and make sure you’re in the back for the all-unit attack. Buff or Dragonic on “You feel a ghostly air!” so you don’t waste an attack due to 999% evasion.

Mage Playstyle

In the Ember Fox battle, focus mainly on single-unit attacks. Leave wearing down the mobs to the Archer and Swordsman who have Magic Twin Blades.

Guardian Playstyle

There are many single-unit attacks in the Ember Fox battle, so the Guardian should strive to accumulate and sustain Hate from the boss itself. The boss uses a mix of Physical & Magical damage, so bring Mitra and Folia or just the Blue Comet if you have it. The mobs don’t attack so just focus your single-target attacks on the boss. There is a lot of Evasion in this fight so be sure to use Dragonic on your strongest weapon if you’re having trouble maintaining Hate.

Cleric Playstyle

The Cleric should assess the attack pattern of the Ember Fox and use both single-unit recovery and all-unit recovery efficiently. Equip a balanced set to deal with the onslaught of all-unit and single-target attacks from the enemies.

Archer Playstyle

Raise the DPS of your whole party to efficiently defeat the Ember Fox. To wear down the HP of the Great Hellfire Crystal, it helps to use the Magic Twin Blades instead of the Magic Cannon. The boss is very magic heavy so you can bring Crystal Sphere to reduce overall damage taken. If the tank doesn’t have room for Mitra, you can debuff the “Heh… heh” - “Ssss… sss” all-unit attack with Dragonic Earth Sniper.

Ember Fox Basic Info

This is a Fire element boss, so deal damage efficiently using Water element attacks.
