Equismaton Walkthrough Tips

Playstyle After Enemy's HP is 20% or Lower

Attack Quickly

When Equismaton's HP is approximately 20% or lower, it will begin a countdown. During the countdown it will become defenseless, so attack quickly.

When the count reaches zero, it will unleash an extreme all-unit attack. You will not be able to survive this attack even from the rear row, so defeat it before you get hit.

Have a Backup In Case You Can't Defeat It

It helps to prepare Evasion buffs, Accuracy debuffs, and Guts as a backup in case you cannot defeat it during the countdown.

Be Careful of the Attack After "DANGER"

Be Careful of the Attack After DANGER

As you wear down the Equismaton's HP, be careful as it will boost its physical/magic damage dealt by 300% with the "DANGER" dialogue and attack. Jobs other than Guardian should be ready to move to the rear row.

Equismaton's physical/magic damage dealt will increase with "DANGER," but when the boss attacks, it will apply a Damage Taken UP debuff to itself.

START-UP Applies 10 Guts

Equismaton will apply 10 Guts to itself using "START-UP" at the beginning of the battle. The Swordsman and Archer should equip Magic Twin Blades for the battle in order to quickly bring it down.

Equismaton’s Attacks Have Regularity

Equismaton’s attacks have a three-turn cycle that turns into a four-turn cycle after the first cast of  “(DANGER)”. Attacks 1-3 will be “*Rumble*”, “Vrr vrr”, and “Rrr” in any order but will remain the same order every cycle. After “(DANGER)” the order will cycle “Vrr vrr” into “Rumble” into “Rrr” into “(Danger)” until the countdown.

Playstyle for Each Job

Swordsman Playstyle

Aim to deal big damage in Dragonkin mode as you avoid accumulating too much Hate at the beginning and getting hit with single-unit attacks. If nearing the 20% health mark save Dragonkin so you can bring boss to 1HP in a single hit. Use Dragonkin on Dark Extreme weapons like Cursed Breaker and deal consistent DPS with Dark Magic Twin Blades such as Lilium or Ardea boosted by Axe and Adamante.

Stay aware of the Equismaton's HP and wear down its Guts with Magic Twin Blades when its HP is 1, then deal the finishing blow.

Mage Playstyle

Aim to deal big damage in Dragonkin mode as you avoid accumulating too much Hate at the beginning and getting hit with single-unit attacks. Bring Dark Single Target Extreme weapons like Lilium and Belial and make sure Swordsman has Dragonkin before pushing the boss below the 20% health mark.

Be wary of its front row and all-unit attacks, and make sure you are in the rear row when these attacks occur.

Guardian Playstyle

Equismaton uses both physical and magic attacks, so maintain the Blue Comet Shield buff to counter them. If you’re taking too much damage you can go back on “Rrr” as long as you have good Hate Accumulation.

Maintain your buffs as you accumulate Hate. When the countdown begins, apply DPS buffs and attack quickly.

Cleric Playstyle

The Cleric will focus their heals on the Guardian and use all-unit recovery with row or all-unit attacks. There’s only one group attack in the boss’s four-attack cycle and you have plenty of time to heal DPS after the third attack so prioritize Guardian during the assault.

Archer Playstyle

You will increase the DPS of the whole party using buffs and debuffs. Deal damage to the enemy as you extend your buffs. Bring Phantom Skull if your tank is struggling with the damage or Crystal Sphere if DPS and Cleric are struggling with the damage.

Stay aware of the Equismaton's HP and wear down its Guts with Magic Twin Blades when its HP is 1, then deal the finishing blow.
