Tips

Beware of the 2 No-Dialogue Attacks

Beware of the 2 No-Dialogue Attacks

Isvaal has two attacks without dialogue: a single-unit physical attack and an all-unit magic attack. The single-unit attack has no dialogue or cast, so you won't be able to move to the rear once it's locked in. Guardians should make use of Hate multiplier weapons to secure Isvaal's Hate.

The all-unit magic attack has no dialogue but it does have a cast, so DPS jobs should get hit by it in the back row. It helps if Guardians keep their all-unit DEF buffs from the Blue Comet Shield or similar active.

The "—!" Dialogue Is an Opportunity to Attack

The —! Dialogue Is an Opportunity to Attack

Isvaal's "—!" dialogue deals massive magic damage to all units, but after the all-unit attack, it will apply a 50% Physical/Magic Damage Taken UP debuff to Isvaal.

Jobs other than the Guardian should move to the back row and reduce damage taken, then quickly deal damage using DPS weapons once the all-unit attack's damage has been done.

Playstyle for Each Job

Swordsman Playstyle

The Swordsman should output DPS with the Magic Twin Blades while taking the enemy's all-unit and row attacks in the back row and extending the buffs on Adamante Buster and Battleaxe. If Twin Blades and Adamante aren’t available to you, consider Kerat for heavy Earth damage and to extend Crystal Eater’s buff for a big follow-up..

Mage Playstyle

Mages should output DPS using their Scythe to enable the quick Dragonkin combo while taking the enemy's all-unit and row attacks in the back row.

Guardian Playstyle

Guardians should manage Hate and take targeting for single-unit attacks. This fight is Magic Damage heavy so be sure to bring at least Folia so that your DPS and Cleric have a better chance of survival from “—!

Cleric Playstyle

Clerics should immediately heal to prevent accidents by memorizing the enemy's dialogue and tells. Be prepared for either group or single-target heals for No Dialogue attacks as it’s likely for DPS to be caught out in front.

Archer Playstyle

Archers should buff all allies, apply debuffs, and contribute to raising the whole party's DPS. Just another day in the park… with a big ol’ horse.

Consider Crystal Sphere to reduce overall damage taken and Dragonic Earth Sniper “—!” if it’s too much to handle.

Isvaal Basic Info

This is a Water element boss, so deal damage efficiently using Earth element attacks.
