Keep Your HP Above 50% After "Try And Withstand This!"
Kelkrus's "Try and withstand this" dialogue deals magic damage to all units. After "Try and withstand this!," it will use "Weaklings, begone!" and apply debuffs. You'll be hit with a powerful debuff if your HP is 50% or less, rendering you unable to damage Kelkrus.
Clerics should time their all-unit recovery for "Try and withstand this!" Try to get hit by attacks in the back row so you can recover to 50% or higher via the Cleric's recovery. Depending on the level of the boss and your stats, it may be possible for you to take hits in the front row.
"Weaklings, Begone!" Debuffs at 50% HP or Less
The effect of "Weaklings, begone!" depends on the remaining HP of the players it hits. When the player's remaining HP is above 50%, the attack is an all-unit magic attack + a 50% Physical/Magic Damage Dealt UP.
When the player's remaining HP is under 50%, while they will not take damage from the all-unit magic attack, a 90% Physical/Magic Damage Dealt DOWN debuff will apply, so be sure your HP does not fall below 50% in battle.
Playstyle for Each Job
Swordsman Playstyle
The Swordsman will play the role of attacker. Put out damage efficiently using the Magic Twin Blades combo and a Dragonkin Greatsword combo.
The key to conquering the Kelkrus fight lies in your timing when moving to the back row with buff weapons. For Kelkrus's "Try and withstand this" dialogue and "Weaklings, begone," make sure you don't get hit by the Damage Dealt DOWN debuff when your HP is 50% or less. Be careful if you bring Belial or Cursed as you do not want your HP to fall under 50% and get debuffed. Be more cautious than usual as standing in front for attacks could lead to you getting a 90% Physical Damage Dealt DOWN debuff.
Mage Playstyle
The Mage is a debuffer and attacker. Improve your whole party's DPS with Magic Damage Taken UP, and deal damage efficiently with the 4-step Dragonkin combo. Use Dark single-target Extreme damage weapons like Belial for optimal DPS.
Guardian Playstyle
The Guardian will take the role of the tank. As you accumulate Kelkrus's Hate, apply DEF buffs to all allies. The boss is Magic Heavy so equip Folia, Trane, or Blue Comet. There is only one Physical attack, so although not as important, consider Mitra if you can fit it. Use Trane on “Try to withstand this” so the backline does not fall below 50%.
For Kelkrus's "Try and withstand this!" dialogue and "Weaklings, begone," it's key that your allies' HP do not fall below 50%, so Trane may be optimal here.
Cleric Playstyle
Clerics will need to keep a sharp eye on all allies’ HP. For "Try and withstand this!" and "Weaklings, begone," maintain your allies' HP at full at all times to avoid inexplicably falling beneath 50%. If allies have high HP on “Try to withstand this!”, use a Recovery UP buff such as the Crystal Mace or Belial to heal them back up as “Weaklings, begone” always follows.
If you apply Light Damage Resistance UP buffs, you will have an easier time.
Archer Playstyle
Archers will focus on maintaining their typical buffs and debuffs. Equip skills that will give your team an advantage against Light Element if possible. Consider Crystal Sphere to reduce damage so allies sustain HP over 50%. You can also Dragonic Earth Sniper on “Try to withstand this!” to reduce damage in order to avoid the following debuff by “Weaklings, begone.”
Kelkrus Event Period
This is a Light element boss, so deal damage efficiently using Dark element weapons.
Completion Rewards
Belial Set
The Belial Series has high magic stats, so we recommend it as support equipment for Mages and Clerics.
Obtain +Equipment
+Equipment is incredibly powerful equipment with higher stats than regular equipment of the same variety. Because it will boost your stats more than equipping the regular equipment of the same type, your power will increase drastically.
