Tips

Prioritize Defeating the Spindles

The Spindles have shields, so you will be unable to deal damage to Malagna with single-unit attacks.

Either aim for Malagna after quickly defeating the Spindles with high DPS single-unit attacks, or attack Malagna using the Mage's powerful all-unit magic attacks.

Prepare Counters for Deadly Poison

We recommend the Calm Klingel to prepare a way to heal your own poison or the Luna Catcher if it is available.

We recommend the Folia Poer for Clerics. It recovers poison for all allied units while also having HP Recovery (Medium), so it's very reliable.

Playstyle for Each Job

Swordsman Playstyle

The Spindles have shields, so defeat them quickly. You can potentially accumulate unwanted Hate if you deal damage to the boss in the early stage of the fight, so prioritize dealing with the Spindles.

After defeating the Spindles, deal damage to the boss using Magic Twin Blades. When your Dragonkin Gauge is full, put out damage with a Dragonkin Greatsword combo. Be wary of the boss’s “Eliminate Danger”, “Shwoo Shwoo”, and “Bzzzzbzzz bzzz” attacks and try to be in the back when they go off.

Malagna will use deadly poison multiple times, so when doing this quest with a public group, equip a Calm Klingel or some other way to remove poison.

Mage Playstyle

Deal damage with a Dragonkin combo as quickly as possible. Take out the Spindles with your all-unit attacks. If you can't withstand Malagna's attacks, deal with the Spindles using single-unit attacks instead of all-unit attacks. Be cautious when stepping in front when boss is under 50% HP due to the debuffs/poison from “Shwoo shwoo” and “Bzzzbzzz bzzz”.

Guardian Playstyle

In the Malagna fight, Spindle will appear with shields in the front row, so you won't be able to accumulate Hate from Malagna with single-unit attacks. Make sure to equip all-unit attack weapons. This boss’s strongest attacks are MAG so bring MAG shields like Folia Guard or Blue Comet if you have it.

Cleric Playstyle

Clerics should select equipment that can remove poison from the party. We recommend the Folia Poer. It recovers poison for all allied units while also having HP Recovery (Medium), so it's very reliable. One of the boss’s “No Dialogue” attacks is an all-unit attack so be prepared with all-unit recovery.

Archer Playstyle

You will increase the DPS of the whole party using buffs and debuffs. You can bring Crystal Sphere to reduce the damage of the boss’s strongest attack “Ga...chikchikchik...” Consider Dragonic Folia Bow on “Shwoo shwoo” so the deadly poison has a chance to miss if your Cleric lacks poison cleanse.
